Cryptex Box Construction
A Cryptex is a portable cylinder used to hide secret messages. The Cryptex became popular in the Tom Hank’s move “The Da Vinci Code”. I’ve made a wooden version of a Cryptex based on Carl Jacobson’s design. I designed it in Fusion 360 and made scaled drawings prior to turning the parts on a lathe. You can find slides of my design here and a YouTube video of the construction here. The CAD files are here. Feel free to leave comments on my YouTube channel!
I gave a demo to the North Texas Woodworkers Association (ntwa.org) on the making of a basic keepsake box. The demo included a slide presentation as well as a video of me making a box in my shop. You can find the slide presentation here and the YouTube video here. Feel free to leave comments on my YouTube channel!
